Pocket sized dolls entrance online bidders

January 2024

Antiques auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt are starting 2024 in a convenient new base beside the motorway at Junction 24, North Petherton.

The easy to access location at Sedgemoor Auction Centre has plenty of free on-site parking plus a café, giving it the edge over the firm’s previous Taunton premises.

The move has also signalled a change of name for the antiques operation. It will now be known as The Somerset Auction Rooms.

However, existing and new clients can be assured of the same level of friendly, knowledgeable expertise from the antiques team.

Currently the department is running an online only, timed auction, which will conclude on January 15 at 7pm. This features a range of collectables, books and antiques.

Among items sparking interest with bidders are three Pippa dolls by British toymaker Palitoy. The “pocket sized” fashion doll was a 1970s sensation and its small stature meant production costs were generally lower than competitors such as Sindy and Barbie.

Bidding for the three dolls has already climbed to three figures. To see the dolls, who are dressed in original outfits, and the rest of the sale offerings please visit
