Another bumper entry for our August Collective with 378 entered, to include the Part Dispersal Sale of 52 Holstein Friesians for Baker & Son which sold to £1942.50 for a second calver giving over 42kgs daily. The Dispersal Sale of 111 Holstein Friesians for DWJ Raffill & Partners which sold to £2152.50 x 2 for June calved heifers. The Dispersal Sale of organic, Pedigree Holsteins Friesians being the “Varley” herd for EW, SJ & TW Scolding sold to £2205 for Varley Goodwhone Rachel 98th GP82, a July calved heifer.
The sale produced 24 lots which sold for in excess of £2000. The Continued Dispersal of the Dinnaton Herd on behalf of DC Dennis & Son Ltd topped the sale with Dinnaton Tampa Calumet Bluebell bred from the herd’s renowned Bluebell family, a July calved heifer who sold for £2520. Followed by £2362.50 x 2 for July calved heifers with Dinnaton Tom Kingboy Meg, and Clevian Lambda Bambi, granddaughter of the Royal Winter Fair Show Champion, Aingers Advent Bambi RDC Ex94, sold on behalf of AJ Limond.
The final consignment from the Tomson Dispersal on behalf of M Hooper & Sons topped the incalf heifer section at £1680 with Tomson Raptor Bluebird 94th due to Standlynch Elwood (Aberdeen Angus) in September. Closely followed by F & H Farms and their phased dispersal at £1627.50 with another September calving heifer due to Boghill Glamour Santos (sexed semen).
Bulling heifers sold to £861 for the Broadleaze herd on behalf of ML & RI Loader with Broadleaze Rubi Haze Girl. Following the ‘Leamon’ Herd Dispersal at Sedgemoor in December 2022, CV Salmon topped both the yearling and calves section at £682.50 for Leamon A2P2 Rosa 80th and £577.50 for the non-registered January born calf from the Dora family sired by Hotbob respectively.
The convenient location of Sedgemoor Auction Centre attracted over 45 successful purchasers on the day from Cornwall to Wales & Shrewsbury as well as strong Dorset, Devon & Somerset support with buyers both in the ring and online creating the following creditable averages.
