Exmoor Ramble Aids Vital Hospice Work

More than £19,000 has been raised for the North Devon Hospice thanks to walkers taking part in the Exmoor Ramble and sponsorship from Greenslade Taylor Hunt.

“These vital monies will help us to help those who are in their final days find peace, comfort and support, whether that is on our bedded unit or in their own homes. It will also help us to offer support to their loved ones, for as long as they need us. Sadly, Covid-19 has meant that there has been an increase in the need for our care, “ said Claire Paine, Business Relationship Manager at North Devon Hospice.

More than 270 people, including a team from Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s South Molton office, turned out to support September’s event in memory of Ivan Huxtable, a long-time charity fundraiser.

“It was a truly poignant and special day and so lovely to see the support and outpouring of love, in memory of the wonderful Ivan, “ said Claire.

Ivan, 80, was cared for at the hospice before he passed away earlier this year from cancer.

A renowned local Exmoor enthusiast and wildlife walker Ivan was a tireless fundraiser who organised charity walks for over 30 years.

Ivan was a well-known local character and a client and good friend of Richard Webber, Partner in charge of the South Molton office, of Greenslade Taylor Hunt.

In recognition of this the firm donated £1,000 from its charitable fund towards the essential work of the hospice.

The cheque presentation to the hospice was attended by Ivan’s son, Brian, who was involved in organising the walk, along with other members of the Huxtable family.
