Collectors & Selected Antiques Auctions Strike Gold

October 2025

The gold spot price is within touching distance of £3,000* per ounce for the first time EVER and continues to perform well, with auction markets witnessing an exciting surge in the prices of gold items.

The waves of economic and geopolitical uncertainty have not only solidified gold's status as the best-performing asset of the 21st century but also attracted investors who are eager to capitalise on its value.

Recent auctions have illustrated just how well gold items are performing. For instance, our April Collectors & Selected Antiques sale featured a 2010 U.S.A. Gold Eagle Fifty Dollars which was bought for £2,500. In the same sale, a 1975 South African Krugerrand also achieved £2,500.

These sales underline the strong demand and the robust interest from collectors and investors alike. Additionally, our August Collectors & Selected Antiques sale showcased a George V Sovereign from 1912, which commanded £585, highlighting the continued value in historical pieces.

Selling your gold items at auction provides the advantage of competitive bidding, allowing you to achieve the best prices from passionate collectors and investors. In contrast, 'cash for gold' dealers typically offer lower rates, focusing on bulk transactions to maximise their profits. By choosing our auction platform, you ensure your items reflect their true value in today’s thriving market.

Our bi-monthly Collectors & Selected Antiques sales are meticulously curated by Valuer and Auctioneer Peter Rixon - D.Phil., B.A (Hons), whose deep knowledge of coins, medals and much more ensures that we offer only the best to our clients.
We're currently consigning for our next Collectors & Selected Antiques sale scheduled for October 29th, so if you have items you wish to sell, please contact us on 01278 410250 to discuss how we can feature your treasures.

Beyond gold coins and medals, don’t forget to explore our monthly Jewellery, Silverware & Watch sales. Each auction provides a diverse range of exceptional items, perfect for both seasoned collectors and newcomers looking to invest.
