Marg I Marvels at April Collective selling to £2782.50

The April Collective Sale at Sedgemoor Auction Centre saw a demand for quality and strength with trade proving harder for second quality cattle.

The sale included the final dispersal of the Dinnaton Herd on behalf of DC Dennis & Son Ltd, with Greenslade Taylor having sold the farm and set to sell the machinery on Wednesday 24th April. The day was monumental for both the family and Greenslade Taylor Hunt who have been privileged to sell cattle for the family for the past 40 years.

The Dinnaton dispersal topped the sale at £2782.50 for Dinnaton Mogul Luster Marq I, an April served heifer backed by an astounding 20 generations of VG & Ex.

She was followed by Peacehay Summerfest Peach 4th, a calved heifer going back to the Oakroyal Shottle Peach 30th Ex94 and consigned by regular vendors, FH Chave & Son, selling at £2310. The final cow to be disperse from the Holmead Herd on behalf RT Cox, Holmead Link Up Tessie Ex, Interbreed Champion at Melplash Show started the milk section and sold for £2205.

Calved heifers to £2152.50 x 3 for DC Dennis & Son Ltd’s Dinnaton Fedora Dreambig Total Eclipse. Moorshard Sideroad Amanda 2nd, from RK & SG Miller & Sons and Kingspool Mirror Jeanette VG86 from PE King Ltd.

Once again, trade was on fire for the incalf heifer section topped by Heaselands Estate with a heifer 6 months incalf to the Aberdeen Angus Stock Bull selling for £1911. Others from Heaselands Estate sold to £1890 x 2.

Bulling heifers topped at £892.50 x 4 for DC Dennis & Son Ltd with Dinnaton Kingboy Chief Sheila, Dinnaton Kingboy Hullabaloo Odette, Dinnaton Calumet Hullabaloo Bluebell and Dinnaton Dalliance Lambda Dreamer. Others sold to £840 and £819 x 2. M E Agri Ltd also had bulling heifers selling to £819 x 4.

Yearlings sold to an impressive £1071 and £1050 for DC Dennis & Son Ltd for Dinnaton Aaron Lambda Flute and Dinnaton Dalliance Lambda Babette respectively.

Calves sold to £819 for DC Dennis & Son Ltd with Dinnaton Dreambig Alps Flute backed by 14 generations of VG & Ex, followed by £472.50 x 3.

Holstein bulls included in the Dinnaton Herd Dispersal sold to £1312.50 x 2 for Davlea Ward and Dinnaton Dalliance Lambda Luke.

A day which combined strong local support together with purchasers from Tewkesbury, Wales and Cornwall both in the sale ring and online produced the following impressive averages with 41 successful purchasers on the day
