Michaelmas Collective Tops at £3412.50 for Otterwyn Cow

The September Collective Sale included the continued Dispersal of 12 cows and heifers for Robin Bowditch and family of Honiton, Devon with their much admired “Otterwyn Agronaut Titch” a second calver giving 41 kgs selling for £3412.50.

The fresh calved heifers topped at £2730 x3 for “Leweston Altacabot Dairymaid” calved July for Dorset Breeders Leweston Farm LLP, “Clenchers Renault Whiteheather” and “Clenchers Red Carpet Paddy” both August calvers from Messrs Rea & Son of Ledbury, Herefordshire. Others to £2572.50 for KJ & SC Grabham “Kenham of West Devon, DW & CE Jones “Wiltor” from Wales and £2520 for HJ Baldwin & Sons' commercial heifer.

Other cows in the collective sold to £2520 for 2024 UK Premier Herd winners RK & SK Miller & Sons and their second lactation cow “Moorshard Alongside Shower VG85” and £2467.50 for Leweston Farm LLP and RG Bowditch Ltd.

A much stronger incalf heifer trade topped at £1995 for “Dinnaton Pepper Dreambig Ona” from PD & JL Biss with others to £1942.50 x3 and £1837.50 x3 for a grand consignment from Waldegrave Farms Ltd (Organic) and £1806 for AJ Wilcox & Sons Dispersal from Glos.  

Bulling heifers from EB Holloway & Sons “Chiselborough” Herd sold to £924 x 4 and yearlings to £840 x 2 for the same Vendor.

A smaller entry of heifer calves to £420 x 4 for AJ Wilcox & Sons and J Northover.

No less than 30 Vendors from Devon to Oxford and Sussex and most Counties in between drew over 50 different purchasers to produce the following average:
