Former Church Building Offers a Variety of Development Options

June 2022

A former church building, situated in central Plymouth, offers a development opportunity for a range of uses - including conversion to five apartments - subject to grant of detailed planning permission and/or change of use.

The site at 37-41 Grenville Road, Plymouth, extends to 0.10-acres (0.04-hectares) and is on the market with development land and planning specialists Greenslade Taylor Hunt.

Plymouth City Council has already indicated it is in favour of developing the site, which is in a well-established residential area, within walking distance of a number of schools and close to local amenities.

A pre-application enquiry was submitted to the city council in April 2021 concerning the conversion of the existing building to five apartments.

The council confirmed in December 2021 that it considers the site in a suitable location, close to local amenities, and crucially with the principle for housing, supported.

A detailed planning permission and/or change of use application would need to be agreed in order for the development opportunity to be realised.

The site is generally level, with a garden wrapping around the side and rear of the building. The predominantly brick building extends to approximately 214 sq. m. (2,303 sq. ft.)
