Former Printing Site for Sale for Residential Use
February 2023
A unique development site with industrial heritage appeal and detailed planning consent for five open market homes is available through property specialists Greenslade Taylor Hunt.
The former West Somerset Free Press site at North Street, Williton, is on the market at a guide price of offers in the region of £275,000.
Interested parties have until 12 noon on Friday, March 31, to submit offers on an unconditional basis.
The site, just off the A39, is close to the village centre. The West Somerset Free Press will continue to operate its office from 5 North Street.
Detailed planning consent to transform the derelict print works into a mixed-use development was granted by Somerset West and Taunton Council in September 2022.
The central historic core of the building will be converted to provide two two-bed apartments and two one-bed properties.
Although the building has heritage appeal it is not listed. However, the White Horse Hotel and abutting walls to the east and 1-3 North Street to the south are Grade II listed.
A new detached two-bedroom dwelling will be built to the north of the site and a new detached commercial building to the south side of the site.
The commercial building, has been designed to be reconfigured to residential, subject to planning, should a buyer prefer this option.
A series of view mornings will take place at the site on March 1, 8, 15 and 22. These sessions are strictly by appointment and must be booked in advance.
