Land with consent for 46 homes at Castle Cary

February 2026

A site with permission for a mix of open market and affordable housing is on the market with us.

Initially the scheme was turned down, but a planning inspector granted outline planning consent for up to 46 homes along with associated works in November 2025. The permission is subject to 31 conditions.

The development, which occupies 2.76 hectares (6.83 acres) will be accessed from South Street, Castle Cary, and will require the creation of a new junction.

The proposed residential scheme will comprise 29 open market homes and 17 affordable properties – a mix of four shared ownership and 13 social rented.

The successful developer will be expected to pay around £567,792 in Section 106 Agreement contributions to mitigate the impact of the scheme. These will include highway improvements, education costs and improved play facilities.

The deadline for the submission of offers is midday on Friday, March 27.
