A long redundant abattoir site in the centre of Porlock could provide a mix of much-needed housing in this popular corner of West Somerset.
Porlock sits within Exmoor National Park and the proposed residential site enjoys an elevated position within the village.
The site, which extends to 0.74 hectares (1.84 acres) has been cleared and the abattoir buildings demolished.
It was granted outline planning consent back in 2017 for the demolition of the existing buildings on the site and the creation of 11 new homes. Under the terms of the Section 106 Agreement the developer must ensure that four of these must be affordable.
These must be offered at 35% below open market value. Currently plots 1-4, all two-bedroom flats, are earmarked as affordable.
The proposed development would comprise a mix of four two-bedroom flats, four three/four-bedroom detached homes and three four-bedroom properties. Access will be provided via the existing vehicle access from Porlock Hill.
The site is on the market with us at a guide price in the region of £600,000. There is also a paddock to the North that extends, in total, to approximately 2.0-hectares (5.1-acres). This is available via separate negotiation.
