Sizeable Housing Site on Offer Close to Major Town
March 2023
The opportunity to buy a substantial site with outline planning consent for up to 215 homes is being offered by development land and planning specialists Greenslade Taylor Hunt.
Unconditional offers for the 21.38 hectares (52.83 acres) site, close to the centre of Bideford, must be received by 12 noon on Friday, 31st March 2023.
Situated off Abbotsham Road, Bideford, the site has outline planning permission for up to 215 homes, plus associated infrastructure works.
Most of the properties – 77% will be open market and the remainder affordable homes – of these 75% will be social rented and 25% shared ownership.
Bideford is a thriving town with a host of independent shops beloved by locals and holidaymakers alike and home to a pannier market, which dates back to the Victorian era. There has been a market on the site since 1675. Once Britain’s third largest port the town is now a favourite with cyclists drawn to the Tarka Trail, which runs through the town.
Tourism is a major driver to the town’s growth, but it is more than a holiday destination. It is also home to around 20,000 residents.
The development site is on the western edge of the town, about a mile from the town centre and close to the A39.
The site will be accessed via two vehicular junctions from Abbotsham Road plus six pedestrian/cycle access points, with one access point leading to Kenwith Valley cycle route.
