Strategic land offers window of opportunity
October 2025
Potential residential development land close to the centre of Chilton Polden and within easy reach of the expanding town of Bridgwater is on the market with property specialists Greenslade Taylor Hunt.
The land, South of Church Lane, which extends to 3.4 hectares (8.4 acres) falls outside, but abuts, the built-up area and development boundary of Chilton Polden.
In response to Somerset Council’s “call for sites” Greenslade Taylor Hunt made representations in January 2025 in relation to the land’s suitability, availability and deliverability for development.
“There is a window of opportunity to capitalise on the need for housing and this is likely to enable the land to be brought forward for development,” said Mark Chugg, Partner with GTH.
The land is close to the Gravity Smart Campus where a £4 billion gigafactory is being constructed for the production of electric vehicle batteries. It is expected to be operational by 2026 and could create 4,000 skilled jobs.
The land is for sale as a whole at offers in the region of £150,000 or in two lots – lot 1 in the region of £80,000 and lot 2 in the region of £70,000. Offers are invited on an unconditional basis.
The deadline for the submission of offers is 12 noon on Friday, November 28.
