Students embark on work placements at GTH

September 2023

Leading South West property partnership Greenslade Taylor Hunt has just welcomed three new student recruits to its Development Land and Planning Department.

The trio from the University of the West of England (UWE) will spend a year on placement as trainee surveyors and planners.

GTH and UWE have already forged a successful partnership with students taking up placements in the firm’s development team, but this is the first time that a planning placement has been set up.

Partner and Head of Planning, Claire Alers-Hankey said: “We are delighted to welcome our new placement students to the Development Land and Planning Department of GTH, following on from the success of our two placement students from UWE last year.

The placement scheme with GTH will enable these students to develop their skills, professionalism and personal growth, providing a strong foundation for their future careers.”

The professional job market is increasingly competitive. Students who go on work experience tend to graduate with better degrees. Experience also hones skills, industry knowledge and professional network, making them sought-after graduates.

Ashley Browne is studying Urban Planning at the University of the West of England and is now working as a trainee planner at GTH, putting his love of architecture into action. Awurabena Nkansah Osei has completed two-years of studying real estate. She is undertaking a year-long placement at GTH as a trainee surveyor before returning to UWE to complete her degree. Chiedza Mapondera is studying property development and planning at UWE and is working as a trainee surveyor at GTH.
