Agricultural Land In Strong Demand
July 2026
Numerous lots of bare agricultural land in a variety of sizes and locations captivated buyers at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s latest collective land and property auction.
There was particular demand, and interest, in large blocks of land on the Somerset Levels and Moors.
A few of the lots sold prior to the auction at Sedgemoor Auction Centre, including a commercial property at 34 North Street, Taunton.
The majority of the 16 lots offered comprised bare agricultural pastureland in various locations and achieved an excellent clearance rate.
Auctioneer, Robert Baker, said: “It was great to see several prospective buyers both in the room and registered to bid online.
We were able to offer numerous lots of bare agricultural land which varied in terms of location and size, but we saw demand for all lots which was pleasing. This varied from small sized parcels, to large blocks located on the Somerset Levels and Moors which all saw competitive bidding.”
Some of the highlights included: 1.63 acres of land at Stogursey which achieved £40,000, 15.02 acres of land at Panborough Drove, Panborough, near Wells, which achieved £150,000, exceeding its guide price of £120,000, 20.62 acres of land at Green Drove, Burtle, achieve £106,000, from a guide price of £90,000.
A few lots located on the Somerset Levels and Moors generated good prices. A block of productive pasture land comprising 17.88 acres at Lyng Drove, Lyng, achieved £54,000 and 15.95 acres at Pedde’s Barn Drove, Somerton, after competitive bidding, went for £60,500, far exceeding its guide price of £37,000.
The next auction is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, from 2pm at the Shrubbery Hotel, Ilminster. For full details please email [email protected]
