Auction route continues to offer great results
April 2026
A delighted vendor is celebrating after the successful sale of idyllic woodland and pastureland complemented by a timber cabin in the Blackdown Hills at auction.
The attractive 6.55 acres of permanent pasture and woodland at Ford Street, near Wellington, sold for £128,000 – well in excess of its pre-sale estimate of £80,000.
Vendor Guy Vowles, of Severnhold Ltd, said: “I had been looking at some of Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s auction results, which seemed to be attracting good prices for small parcels of land, so decided, that it was the better way forward.”
The marketing overseen by rural surveyor Mollie Gillard and apprentice agricultural surveyor, Verity Johnson, proved canny.
“Thank you Mollie and Verity for all the great attention and effort, you put into the successful marketing of Lower Harding Wood, which achieved a figure well beyond our expectations,” said Mr Vowles.
The property was among a range of lots that went under the hammer at the Shrubbery Hotel, Ilminster, last week.
The property and land auction once again showed the continued strength of demand for investment and rural property with competitive bidding both in the room and online with several lots achieving exceptional results.
One parcel of land in Henley, Langport, guided at £35,000 climbed rapidly to £63,000, with another lot adjoining guided at £30,000, achieving £56,000.
Perhaps the stand out result of the day was a plot of land in Combe St Nichola, near Chard, guided at £40,000 reached £84,000, more than doubling its guide.
The public auction process continues to provide excellent results for our vendors. GTH is conducting its next property auction on Wednesday, May 20th, at the Aldwick Estate, Redhill, Bristol.
Entries are invited for the land and property auction on Wednesday, June 17th, at Sedgemoor Auction Centre. For more information contact [email protected]
