Former library snapped up at property auction

March 2025

An interesting redundant county council building in the middle of Wellington has sold for £220,000 – 10% in excess of its guide price.

The premises at 55 North Street, Wellington, was recently used to house the town’s library on a temporary basis, whilst the main library in Fore Street underwent a major re-fit.

Development land and planning specialists Greenslade Taylor Hunt had marketed the site at a guide price of £200,000.

However, competitive bidding on the day saw the gavel fall at £220,000.

James Nelson, Development Surveyor at GTH, said: “The marketing process attracted several interested parties and we would encourage those that are looking for similar properties to register their details with us, as we will have similar opportunities coming to the market this year."

GTH’s next property auction takes place at Batch Country House, Lympsham, on Wednesday, March 26, from 2pm.
