GTH Leads Way with Commercial Deals
March 2023
Despite the challenges of the pandemic and the “cost of living” crisis commercial property has remained remarkably robust through these uncertain times.
Greenslade Taylor Hunt has a long-established, successful commercial property department with the necessary skills to navigate this tricky market.
The experienced team has a string of industry awards. It has just clinched the EG/Radius Most Active Agent Award having completed more sales and lettings transactions than any other agent in Somerset.
This is the 13th year in succession that the team led by Duncan Brown FRICS IRRV has won this prestigious accolade.
Mr Brown said: “The property market throughout the South West has generally fared well throughout the pandemic. With the exception of prime retail, which has struggled with occupier demand, secondary retail, the office, leisure and industrial sectors have attracted tenants and buyers.
“Indeed, low supply and good demand has fuelled both rental and capital growth for light and general industrial premises.
“Although 2023 has experienced a slight slowdown in activity as economic instability has affected occupier confidence, supply levels are not increasing at the moment which is positive news.”
One of the highlights of 2022 was the sale of the 64-acre former RAF facility known as Chilmark Estate, near Salisbury, in conjunction with joint agents off a guide of £4.25M.
Other notable deals included the sale of Roman Hill Business Park in Broadmayne, near Dorchester, for £1.6M and a mixed-use retail and residential opportunity at The Golden Lion in Seaton for £750,000.

Yeovil’s industrial market remains healthy as evidenced by the ongoing activity at Glenmore Business Park where over 50% of the scheme has either been let or sold at £12 per sqft and £175 per sqft respectively.
Mr Brown continued: “In Taunton we have recently let 20,000 sq ft to Biffa at Crown Industrial Estate and we have two further units of between 3,500 and 4,000 sq ft under offer within the recently refurbished Block M. Additionally, we have let 9,830 sq ft to Elis UK Ltd and 23,157 sq ft to ADM Protexin Ltd at Bridgwater Trade Park in Bridgwater.”
The commercial department operates from hubs in Taunton, Yeovil and Dorchester, supported by a number of property valuers and property managers across the firm, which has offices in Somerset, Devon and Dorset.
