Properties Find Homes Ahead of Auction
March 2023
Greenslade Taylor Hunt were delighted with the results of their latest property auction with many of the 12 homes from across Devon and Somerset selling ahead of the sale at the Shrubbery Hotel, Ilminster.
Pick of the pack was Gardeners Cottage in Crowcombe, Taunton, which generated considerable interest. This “chocolate box” property had the lot – a delightful and enchanting Wisteria clad cottage nestled at the foot of the Quantock Hills.
It appealed to gardeners and nature lovers alike. The grounds were an undoubted draw as was the fact that though the cottage dated from the 1920s it was not listed. The hammer fell at £340,000.
Spirited bidding also ensued for Downlands, Pitney Hill, Langport, a three-bedroom detached bungalow in need of complete renovation.
Situated on the outskirts of the sought-after village of Pitney, enjoying wonderful views of surrounding countryside it sold for £372,000. It featured attractive gardens and a range of outbuildings including a large steel framed barn.
An unusual investment property came to the market on Fore Street, Chard, comprising three flats all in a very “lettable” condition offering an excellent investment opportunity with a guide price of £180,000. Investors pushed the price upwards and the hammer fell at £195,000.
A handsome property at Blackford, Wedmore, comprising a four-bedroom family home sold shortly after the auction in excess of the £550,000 guide price.
GTH’s next property auctions take place on Wednesday, March 22, at Batch Country House, Lympsham, Tuesday, April 25, at the Shrubbery Hotel, and Wednesday, May 24, at Aldwick Estate, near Bristol. All auctions commence at 2pm.
