Superb property auction totals in excess of £2.3M

July 2024

Experienced auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt are reflecting on an outstanding sale which saw a range of agricultural land, residential and commercial property go under the hammer and realise in excess of £2.3M.

A total of 26 lots were auctioned at Batch Country House, Lympsham, near Weston-super-Mare.

Prices of note included £199,000 for a single parcel of 9.93 acres of land at Fiddington, near Bridgwater. This was well in excess of the pre-sale guide and equated to £20,000 per acre.

Meanwhile two acres of attractive amenity, pasture land at Croscombe, near Wells, sold for £66,000 – dwarfing its £25,000 guide price.

Robert Baker, Auctioneer at Greenslade Taylor Hunt explained: “It was great to see a packed auction room of potential buyers, leading to prices achieving clients’ expectations. We had a number of bidders registered online in addition which saw us sell property from Weymouth to Wells.”

GTH has a well-deserved reputation for its auctioneering skills, established over 180 years. However, its heritage and history does not stop the firm embracing the latest technology.

Its traditional in-house local property auctions are augmented by a livestream service enabling the widest possible audience for the property showcased.

Property auctions provide sellers with certainty of a sale – once the gavel comes down, the sale is sealed. The process also helps buyers with a clear timeframe of the whole process.

It is becoming a more and more popular way of selling land and property as the procedure is relatively straightforward with all the necessary legal and administrative matters in place prior to the start of the sale.

The next property auction takes place at The Shrubbery Hotel, Ilminster, on Thursday, September 26, from 2pm. GTH holds regular auctions throughout the year covering Somerset, Devon and Dorset.

Lots on offer are varied and include a site on the outskirts of Glastonbury with planning consent for a four-bedroom detached home together with pasture land at a guide price of £350,000.

A single parcel of 2.84 acres of agricultural land at Mark, near Highbridge, guided at £50,000 is among a number of land lots.
