Autumn Crossbred Cows in Demand

June 2026

The Rolf family made the very difficult decision to cease dairy farming at Park Farm Beaulieu Hampshire and sent their autumn calving, robot milked herd down to Sedgemoor Auction Centre and were rewarded with a strong, consistent trade throughout the catalogue.

The herd consisted of Friesians, Montbeliarde and Pedigree Ayrshire mainly all in their third lactation due to their 4th this autumn.  All three breeds shared the days top price of £2,572.50 being at Lakemead Jingle daughter due to her fourth at the end of July to Montbeliarde sexed semen, the pedigree Ayrshire Middle Chrissie Yup who had calved in November and was due to her fourth in October and the November calved Montbeliarde x heifer that was due to the Augus in October.  The Ayrshire dry cow Middle Crummie MH due to her fifth in July sold to £2520 as did British Friesians x due to her fourth in August, Middle Elkin Bandit 2nd due in October to Angus and the Montbeliarde x due to her second in October also to the Angus.

Volume buyers from across the Southwest made the most of the opportunity to purchase these autumn calving cows to generate a very creditable £2125.42 averaged (ex faults).
