Commercial Holsteins from Lyndhurst in demand at Sedgemoor

A packed ring at Sedgemoor Auction Centre saw the dispersal sale of the Wilverley Farm Herd from Lyndhurst in Hampshire follow the weekly dairy sale through the ring meeting a strong demand across the catalogue.

Fresh milk sold to £2100 for the super red & white 2nd calver by ST Gen RR Applefree Red ET, this was matched by the November calved 4th calver that was open for service and giving 47.6kgs daily.  At £1995 was another red & white November calved heifer by the same Red sire and giving 31.8kgs daily.  Other autumn calved heifers to £1911 and £1890 x 2 with fresh and autumn 2nd calvers also at £1890.

The quality of the cows shone through with 5th calvers selling to £1785 and 8th calvers to £1281.

The yearling heifers matched the cows for quality selling to £829.50 x 2 for March 2023 born heifers by Gin Amour ET.

The decision to move the cows to Sedgemoor was well rewarded with the day generating the following excellent averages: -
