
Cordelia claims top spot at SAC Mid-Summer Collective

Despite fewer numbers forward on the day the quality on offer drew purchasers to GTH’s Mid-Summer Collective Sale and produced a trade where 61% of the fresh sold for over £2000.
The continued dispersal on behalf of DC Dennis & Son Ltd topped the day at £2730 with their much admired Dinnaton Mogul Lambda Cordelia, a calved heifer backed by 13 generations of VG/Ex. Closely followed by Dinnaton Galaxy Dalliance Bluebell at £2625 and Dinnaton Jet Stream Dalliance Wallen at £2520, both calved heifers. Other calved heifers selling in excess of 2000gns Dinnaton x 21, Peacehay x 3, Clevian x 1, RJ Goss & Son x 1 and B & M Hayball & Son x 1.
FH Chave & Son topped the fresh calved cows section at £2100 for the second lactation, Peacehay Upright Bridget, giving 50kgs daily.
Incalf heifers topped at £1995 for the July calving, Tarischka Porter Sylvia for the continued dispersal of Hawkins Farm Partnership she was followed by another July calver, Riverbride Boastful Snowflake at £1890 to conclude the dispersal of Riverbride Herd for MB & CA Buckland. Other incalf heifers from M Hooper & Sons Ltd (Tomson) to £1785 and Rotherfield Farms LLP to £1575 for a Montbeliarde Cross.
Served heifers from the dispersal of a low input grazing herd sold to £945, with bulling heifers a brighter trade on the day selling to £997.50 for DJ & MV Curtis final consignment to conclude their Holstein dispersal and British Friesian bulling heifers to £798 for CJ Mear & Sons.
The convenient location of Sedgemoor Auction Centre attracted successful purchasers from Wales to Cornwall with buyers both in the ring and online creating the following creditable averages.
