Farmestate Holsteins to 2350gns

The dispersal of the milking and incalf heifer portion of FE Hill & Son’s Farmestate herd at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Tuesday 25th January attracted purchasers from Cornwall to Cheshire with 35 successful on the day. The quality of cattle on offer produced 30 lots over £2000 to a top of £2467.50 for the penultimate lot of the day being the October calved heifer Farmestate Cordial Elise giving 39 kgs. A September calved heifer by the same sire sold to £2310 with November calved 2nd lactation cows by Altasuperstar from the Tania family at £2289 as were October calved heifers served again.

Summer/Autumn milk was in strong demand with August 2nd calvers at £2226 for members of the Temptrous family and others at £1252.50 x 2.

21 fresh heifers were the trade of the day averaging an impressive £2021.50 topping at £2394 for the January calved ‘Recoil Inndianne’, with the December calved Cordial Carbon at £2362.50 and Cordial Laura £2331.

Incalf heifers due end of February through to the Summer sold to £1680 for another Cordial daughter being Narcissi 2nd and £1575 x 3 for Recoil Dreamer, Cordial Amelia and Eve.
 
A good crowd at the ringside combined with online bidding produced the following excellent averages:
