Foxminster Dispersal lights up the trade at SAC
March 2025
Generations of breeding by the Luther family had produced a Master Breeders herd. On a limited acerage the aim had been to produce strong capacious cows capable of excellent milk yields. With limited housing the dry cows and heifers were outwintered and the milking herd loose housed.
With excellent milk yields these cows were in demand from buyers across the country topping at £3885 for the VG87 autumn second calver Foxminster Moberry Broma by the homebred bull she was giving 51kgs. At £3675 was the first lactation Fynn Magnolia VG85 and third calver Sassafras Junkita Ex90 SP. No less than 9 cows and heifers sold for over 3000gns with a number of 5th lactation and older cows exceeding 2000gns.
Their youngstock lit up the trade further with three heifers in a row due July to the Hereford selling for £2572.50 for members of the Mosita and Olga families. Purchasers were keen to make the most of the genetics and records behind their maiden heifers with bulling heifers by Applejax from the Berry family at £1522.50 and July 24 born Sizzler heifers at £1312.50.
Foxminster was very much a family affair and the cows and heifers were a credit to the family achieving the following impressive averages:-
| Cows & Heifers | £2342 |
| Incalf Heifers | £2201 |
| Maiden Heifers | £1250 |
| Heifer Calves | £367.50 |
