March 2026
Having secured the Championship honours under judge John May of the Priorton herd, Crediton, Devon, the February 2024 born Knowstone Plum from father and son team John and Richard Stanbury took the top price of the day at 9000gns at Sedgemoor for the Society Spring Sale.
By Ebbesbourne Saxon and out of a homebred female by Barton Elite, this one has won Breed Championship at Mid Devon and Reserve Breed Champion at North Devon shows last year for the South Molton, Devon based family. Taking this one home at 9000gns for the Bude, Cornwall based Trebarfoote herd was Pamela Idelson-Smith.
Two bulls then shared a 7800gns price tag, the first being Coombe Skylark from Okehampton, Devon based Steve Cleverdon. Born March 2024, this one is a son of Eastyard Larkspur out of a homebred Larkspur daughter. He later proved to be the top choice for Daylesford Organics, Moreton-in-the-Marsh, Gloucestershire.
The second at that price was the best from Messrs Dart and Sons, South Molton, Devon, in the form of Champson Titan, a March 2024 born son of Colleton Thorven. Out of the Gratwicke Sam daughter, Champson Bribery 259th, this one caught the eye of Bowldon Farms, Tetbury, Gloucestershire.
Meanwhile, the pre-sale Reserve Champion, Pusey Farms Oak from R Perlhagen, Faringdon, Oxon, then sold for 5200gns. By Peaspod Universal Dollare, he’s out of a homebred daughter of Pusey Farms Oxo. This March 2024 born bull was knocked down to J P Williams, Redruth, Cornwall.
Sharing the same price tag from the same pen was Pusey Farms Ash, another by Universal Dollare and this time out of the homebred Lillybet family. This one heads to Marlborough, Wiltshire with Kingham Farms Ltd.
Two bulls from the Dart family then shared a 4000gns price tag, the first being Champson Bullseye, a Colleton Thorven son. Taking him home to Ivybridge, Devon, was A Darwall. At the same money was his pen mate, Champson Butch, a paternal brother to the last, selling to Andrew & Sally Meikle, South Molton, Devon.
Female trade peaked at 3300gns for an unhaltered female from the buyers of the top priced bull. Trebartfoote Beauty 19th is a Northmoor’s Romeo daughter out of a homebred Kew Squire daughter. Taking this one home was previously mentioned buyer, Daylesford Organics.
Adding to that journey back to Gloucestershire with Daylesford at 3000gns was Kingsbury Barbie Girl from Norton-Sub-Hamdon, Somerset based Lisa Parsons. By
Cutcombe Trumpit, this February 2024 born heifer is out of a homebred Perton Dynamite daughter. Also joining her at 2800gns was Trebartfoote Beauty 18th, a Goldings Governor daughter and Female Champion Rocknell Gabrielle from Tiverton based Graham Summerhayes selling for 2700gns.
