Sedgemoor Market Dash Hits £13,000

Auctioneers at Sedgemoor Auction Centre have raised an incredible £13,000 for two cancer charities with a frantic 12-hour trip from their base on a wacky range of transport options.
The teams reached Braemar, Preston, Edinburgh, Dundee and London as they travelled by ice cream van, skis, shopping trolley, horse and bike to name a few on their charity endeavour.
All 10 participants have witnessed the effects of a cancer diagnosis close up.
“We are thrilled to have raised so much money for Macmillan, which supports people living with cancer, and for the Derek Mead Health Room, which supports farmers at the market. We are particularly focused on enabling them to put on further cancer screening days at Sedgemoor,” explained Andy Clements, one of the event’s organisers.
The teams comprised: Andy Clements and Russell Thomas, Paul Ashton and Rob Stone, Tom Mellor and Rob Baker, Ryan Doble and Jamie Batt, and James Wotton and Osian Richards.
They set off from Sedgemoor in pairs and with only £20 per team. Three teams – Andy Clements and Russell Thomas, Tom Mellor and Rob Baker and Jamie Batt and Ryan Doble - all managed to reach Scotland on their epic trek.
Simon Havens, GTH Chairman, said: “This was a brilliant initiative and effort from all five teams. The money raised for two charities is outstanding.”
