A fantastic display of fresh milk paired with the “Pegasus Family Select Sale” and The Dispersal Sale of 112 Holstein & Fleckvieh X Dairy Cows for PD & JL Biss created a buzz throughout the market with no less than 40 selling in excess of £2000 and 13 selling for £2500 or higher.
 
The sale topped at £2887.50 for Beaconhill Chief Linda 2nd, an April calved heifer sired by the popular Chief Bull, on behalf of MKJ Reed & Son. She was followed at £2677.50 for Kingspool Mick Roxy, a second calver also from the world renowned Roxy family, selling on behalf of PE King Ltd.
 
Other vendors who sold milking cows & heifers for over £2000 included FH Chave & Son, Rea & Son, AJ Limond, IM Davies, RG Bowditch Ltd, PD & JL Biss and Haydon Farming Partnership.
 
The day started with the “Pegasus Family Select Sale” for Angel Farming Ltd. Stuart Angel had secured a number of desirable pedigrees for his Organic herd which created much interest with the milking section averaging over £2000. Topping his sale at £2730 was Pegasus Fitz Skylerae 2nd VG87, going back to Glenridge Citation Roxy Ex97. Four sold for £2520 from the Emilyann, Roxy Red, Tessie and Rhapsody families. The maidens sold to £1627.50  for Pegasus Chief Tessie 2nd, and £1102.50 for Pegasus Jones Rae 3rd, backed by an impressive 13 generations of VG & Ex. The October 2023 born Pegasus Dealmaker Socks 2nd sold for £682.50.
 
As part of this months sale, Patrick & Jan Biss from Somerton dispersed their 112 Holstein & Fleckvieh X Dairy Cows alongside associated dairy equipment and machinery. The dispersal topped at £2152.50 for Tarischka Brekem Christa 2nd, a second calver bought from the well-known of ‘Tarischka’ Herd dispersal.  The sale also included a Pedigree Charolais Bull, Escott Trooper, who sold for £3832.50.  The day started with their Associated dairy equipment which saw a JCB TM220 sell for £24,000 and an Electric Foot Trimming Crush for £3800.
 
Incalf heifers topped at an impressive £2100 for Pegasus Shield Lila Z Red, going back to the famous Lylehaven Lila Z Ex94-2E, due in June.  Collective incalf heifers sold to £1176 for FH Arscott & Son for heifers due to Holstein in September.
 
Collective bulling heifers sold to £819 x 5 for the ‘Edge’ Herd on behalf of M & S Dymond. Collective yearlings topped at £714 x 2 for the ‘Chiselborough’ Herd on behalf of EB Holloway & Son. Milk calves sold to £326 for Beaconhill Lambda Linda, the April 2024 daughter of the top price of the day, on behalf of MKJ Reed & Son.
