Milk Milk Milk!

The June Collective Sale was all about milk, following the recent increases in milk price it was clear that purchasers were chasing milk, producing an electric trade with 88% of the fresh milk entry selling for over 2000gns. 

The sale topped at £3150 for Clenchers Prosecco Whiteheather, a 36kgs May calved heifer backed by multiple generations of VG and Ex, from Rea & Son, Ledbury. She was followed at £2887.50 for Kingspool B52 Pixie 2 GP82, a 59kgs third calver, sold by PE King Ltd. Other cows from Rea & Son sold to £2835 for Ledbury Jones Balise 2 GP82, SP and £2730 for and DW & CE Jones with YFarm Shilling Sharpsaw 4 VG86 whilst other heifers from A & JE Fewings sold to £2782.50 for Keevil Altadanyl Tara. 

Other vendors who sold milking cows & heifers for over £2000 included MKJ Reed & Son, RG Bowditch Ltd, PJ Andrews, Haydon Farm Partnership, RA & SA Reed and M & S Dymond.  

Incalf heifers topped at an impressive £1995 for DL & BWH Jones for a commercial heifer with an impressive PLI of £594 due this summer. Others from DL & BWH Jones sold to £1942.50 x 2, altogether averaging at £1749. Followed by £1890 for Farmestate Taz Beauty, another summer calver, from FE Hill & Son. 

Collective bulling heifers sold to £924 x 2 for Parcrywern Butch Nienke 26 and Parcywern Butch Gem 415 from Evans & Vaughan from Pembrokeshire. 
 
Yearlings sold to £819 x 3 for M & S Dymond for Edge Tropic Stella, Edge Tropic Elizabeth 7 and Edge Lock Acorn. 

Calves sold to £630 for FH Chave & Son for Peacehay Has It All Rachel 20, a January born calf going back to the illustrious D-R-A August Ex96. ‘A’ Lot heifer calves sold to £367.50 x 2 for Beaconhill Crown Royal Lola and Beaconhill Crushabull Kelly 2 for MKJ Reed & Son. 

The sale included the Dispersal of 50 Spring & Autumn Calving Holstein & Crossbred Cows & Heifers for P & N Tapp and the Dispersal of 76 Dairy Cows and Heifers for J Young & Sons. The Dispersal for P & N Tapp topped at £2152.50 x 2 for two Norwegian Red calved heifers and £1200 for a Norwegian Red X Incalf Heifer due to Hereford in November. The Dispersal for J Young & Sons also topped at £2152.50 for a second calver sired by Abs Callaway and the served heifers topped at £1280 for a heifer sired by Tynevalley Bombardier. 

A day with over 47 individual successful buyers spanning the breadth of the entire South West of England and Wales and many others leaving empty handed created the following excellent averages:
