Peacehay & Clenchers in demand at SAC
November 2025
Free falling milk prices and a turn in the weather meant uncertainty over what the trade would be for the November Collective Sale at Sedgemoor Auction Centre. However, the old saying quality counts rung true with strong, well-bred high yielding cows and heifers still selling to in excess of 3000gns.
7 of the days top prices all exceeded £3000 and comprised cows and heifers with either the Peacehay or Clenchers prefix !. Both regular consigners their stock was in strong demand. The 2nd lactation Peacehay Cheers Brasilia 8th VG 87 was joint top price of the day together with the calved heifer Peacehay Atmosphere Peach 6th at £3,255 from David & Ian Chave. At £3,150 were two further Peacehay calved heifers and Clenchers Distefano Whiteheather 3rd calved to her first in September from Rea & Son. Two further calved heifers from both herds also sold for £3,045 each. “A” lot heifer calves who followed their Peacehay dams through the ring sold for £399 x 3 at 3 weeks old.
Incalf heifers carrying the Gomershay prefix from their Emma and Lucy families sold for £2100 and £2047.50 consigned by DC Bartlett.
The main consignment of the day was the dispersal sale on behalf of Jill Perry and daughters from Crediton, Devon. A difficult decision for the family was rewarded with 2nd lactation cows selling to £2940 for the August calved Westburrow Evolve Batje, £2835 for both the September calved Evolve Marcie and the Aug calved PP Noel with the 3rd lactation fresh cow Yager Gonda at £2730.
