“Peacehay” standout performance at SAC Collective

August 2025

The continued lack of rain and resulting fodder concerns did not dampen the trade at the Sedgemoor Auction Centre August Collective dairy sale which witnessed 63 lots over £2,500 with 17 over £3,000 to a top call of £3,727.50.

Taking top honours was the VG85 calved Addison Blue Iris 218th heifer from David & Ian Chave’s Peacehay herd.  The Chave family filled all 4 top spots for highest prices achieved with their 2nd lactation Denver Peach 3rd (VG85) selling for £3,570 as did their calved heifer Sid Squaw 14th (GP-83-2YR).  Their consignment of 5 achieved an excellent £3,465 average.

Other highlights in the collective fresh milk section included the return of Longmoor Farm Ltd with their 2nd lactation cows Pokemon Ivana 2nd selling for £3,360 and Augustus Margie P £3,255.  Calved heifers from Dimond Farming Ltd by the Improbable sire and out of the renowned Whitetime family sold for £3,360 as did Clenchers Donte Whiteheather 2nd from Rea & Son.

A choice of 73 incalf heifers generated an electric trade with quality and breeding seeing a top call of £2,992.50 for the much admired red & white Otterwyn Diamonback Softee Red being part of the continued phased dispersal for RG Bowditch Ltd of Honiton Devon.  Close behand at £2,887.50 was the commercial heifer from Caseley Farm Dairy Ltd out of a Winfrith dam by the Cogent GC Liberty sire.  Bridgwater College’s Somerset Herd sold members of their Snowdrop and Sooty families both for £2,782.50.  At the same price was the commercial non recorded heifer due October to the Limousin from Robinson Farm Partnership of Hampshire.
