Quality Counts at SAC Collective

Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt report that despite, seasonality restraints, perfect silage making weather and continued dry conditions, quality draws customers.  Our vendors are commended for the quality of cattle they brought to this month’s sale which attracted a good volume of purchasers, albeit mostly online from Derbyshire to Southwest Wales and down to Cornwall.

On the day when no less than 10 sold for over £3,000 it was the calved heifer  Peacehay Nashville Erle 31^st one of a consignment of 13 on the day from Dave & Ian Chave who topped the sale at £3,360 they also sold other calved heifers being Addison Peach 8^th & Dreambig Rhapsody 18^th at £3,150 each. Other calved heifers to £3,150 for Clenchers Donte Anemonelass 4^th Rea & Son & £2,835 Clenchers Vanessa 4 Red, £2,730 Leswidden Flynn Trolley & £2,625 Leswidden Flynn Lulu for TJ & CM Dauncey & Sons of St Just, Cornwall.  Non pedigree Dairy Shorthorn April calved heifer from MJ & RD Russell’s dispersal sold to £2,572.50 thought to be a marked record for the breed.

Rea & Son’s Clenchers herd topped the cows with 2 April calved second calvers at £3,045 for Major Anemonelass 4^th and Applejax Whiteheather 5^th The Clenchers consignment averaged an impressive £2,919. At £2,940 was Peacehay Cheers Tyrol 4^th from the Chave’s with TCD CB & DE Jones’s Llanelen Cira Heather at £2,940, Episode Odense £2,730 and the third calver Fritz Aline £2,520.  Commercial 2^nd calvers £2,625 for Coombes Manor Farm Ltd.

Pedigree incalf heifers calving June to August met a very strong demand topping at £3,150 on three occasions for Mearfield R2D2 Botercura 715^th, R2D2 Botercura 722^nd & R2D2 Tulip 143^rd with R2D2 Topsie 224^th at £3,045 these were part of the consignment of 10 from P Wedden & Partners which averaged £2,672.25 to finish their dairy herd dispersal.

Commercial heifers from Burcher Son & Jones calving August sold to £2,100 x 2 and averaged £1,956 for the 12 heifers sold and September calvers at £2,106 for BM Coombes & Son Ltd.

Heifer calves by Westcoast Almamater & Stantons Useful at £430.50 for AC Daniell & Son.
