50 Over £2000 Sedgemoor Auction Centre July Collective

The fastest trade of the year for fresh calved cows, heifers, dry cows, incalf and bulling heifers was seen at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s annual July Collective Sale.  No less than 11 fresh calvers sold for in excess of £2500 to a top of £2677.50 for the calved heifer “Dinnaton Tampa Pepper Ona” from Derek & Jeremy Dennis’s continued dispersal.  An entry of 13 from David & Ian Chave’s “Peacehay” herd averaged an impressive £2439.23 with members of the Echo, Fleur & Iris families all selling for 2500gns.  Others at 2500gns were Dinnaton Lotta Detective Grey, Clenchers Nihao Evelyn & Whiteheather 7 (Rea & Son), Beneknowle Ice Cold Burgundy 24 (PJ Andrews) and commercial heifers by Sgowbiz Symion from first time consigners TC Cox of Dorchester.  The fresh cows topped at 2350gns for PJ Andrews 2nd calver from the Governess family, two Peacehay 2nd calvers at 2250gns and the commercial 2nd calver from TC Cox 2100gns.

For the first time this year incalf heifers were consistently over £2000 to a top of £2152.50 on three occasions for dispersal sale heifers from P Wedden & Partners “Braden Chili Pamela”, Hawkins Farm Partnership “Tarischka Lancaster Opal” and M Hooper & Sons Ltd “Tomson Aladdin Bluebird 87”.  All three vendors had others at 2000gns as did GA & H Vicary “Peeve Toruqe Poverty” all due August.

Bulling heifers were back over 1000gns with Kingspool Lambda Mandy 7 & Magnus Daisy 2 at 1040 gns each.  Others from Kingspool at 1020gns and 1000gns.  Well grown heifer calves from JF Cobb & Sons produced a brighter trade selling to 420gns x 4.

The dispersal sale of commercial, robot milked cows for AB Holliday from the Isle of Wight sold to 1900gns for the 3rd lactation May calver with the commercial youngstock dispersal for AK & SJ King producing incalf heifers due August at 1780gns, bulling heifers to 980gns x 2 and yearling heifers to 550gns.

20 vendors from across the South West and Eastern Counties produced an excellent catalogue of 388 Head which generated no less than 45 successful purchasers (many others leaving empty handed) from Worcester, to North Wales, Carmarthenshire & South Western Counties and the following averages:-
