
Bettiscombe Back with a Bang at Sedgemoor Auction Centre September Collective Sale

An exceptional entry of quality milk combined with a commercial dispersal from Ipswich drew the milk trade of the year to date at the Sedgemoor Collective September Sale with 23 over £2500. Roland & Simon Bugler having increased their herd numbers were back with surplus stock selling 19 fresh calved cows and heifers from their Bettiscombe Herd to average £2650. They topped the day with their calved heifer Duke Nifty giving 45kgs who sold for £3255, at £3130 was another calved heifer from the Enid family. Their calved cows sold to £2940 for the 2nd lactation Dynamo Lovely and £2835 for the 3rd lactation Hurricane Pinkie.
The continuation of the Dinnaton Dispersal produced 10 heifers to average £2562 topping at £2887.50 for Tamper Flowrider Noreen with Currency Pepper Babette & Kimball Detective Cordelia both at £2835.
The continued dispersal of the commercial cows and heifers for PR & SJ Richards of Ipswich generated an excellent trade for the quality cows on offer with the older heavy milking cows in very strong demand. The fresh 2nd lactation cow by De-Su Topsey ET topped their sale at £2730 with 15 selling for over 2000gns with 6th lactation cows at 1750gns and calved heifers at £2499.
Another large entry of 80 incalf heifers sold to 2000gns for the continued dispersal of MB & LC Haskell with a Battle daughter due October to the Angus, first time consigners MJ Coleman & Son sold heifers due November to 1900gns, MB & CA Buckland’s Riverbride Boastful Regis due October to Angus 1850gns, M Hooper & Sons Tomson dispersal continued with Mambo Fairy due late November at 1720gns.
20 yearling and younger heifers from the University of Readings Whiteknights herd sold to 760gns x 2 for Arrowhead daughters from the Tilly and Loretta families. Over 100 heifer calves on the day sold to 480gns x 5 for JF Cobb & Sons.
