Treetop Heifer tops the Christmas Cracker at £3465

A quality entry saw all adult cattle selling on the day to average over £2000 !.  The Christmas Cracker includes our annual show which this year was judged by Geraint Beynon from Carmarthenshire. A strong trade from start to finish produced a top call of £3465 for the homebred fresh calved heifer Treetop Artisan Kimo VG86 who was bred from the Hinton Kimo by Geoff Morgan & took 1^st prize in the calved heifer class and overall Reserve Champion.  27 milking cows and heifers sold for over £2500 with other calved heifers at £2782.50 for an Amanda from Moorshard by Davici, a second Moorshard heifer this time from the Belle family sold for £2730 as did Llanelen Newman Renate from TCD CB & DE Jones, Dorset Applejax Lily from Dimond Farming Ltd & Dinnaton Alvarez Summerfest Torch VG85 JG Morgan.

Collective fresh calved 2^nd lactation cows sold to £2887.50 for Dorset Dandy Celicia from Dimond Farming Ltd, £2782.50 for Moorshard Rapid Fran, £2730 Llanelen Arrowhead Aline 2^nd  and £2625 for the judges 1^st prize cow and overall champion Beaconhill Haniko Bridget from MKJ Reed & Son

The day included the second consignment for Paul & Anna Brunt to disperse their flying herd of much admired cows.  They generated the top priced cow of the day at £3045 for the commercial 3^rd lactation cow purchased from the Vortex herd of the King family Dorset.  Other cows to £2835 for the 2^nd lactation Haydon Kimball Bess 2^nd calved in September, £2782.50 for the fresh 4^th calver Farmestate Cordial Fairmain.  Three commercial 2^nd calvers to £2677.50 with the older cows also selling exceptionally well with the 6^th lactation Hinton Alltime Daisy selling for £2,152.50.

The incalf heifer section topped at £1785 for the homebred heifer by Progenesis Wimbledon from PD & JL Biss.  Organic heifers from both Billingsmoor Farm Ltd and Waldergrave Farms sold to £1701.

Heifers calves sold to £231 x 2 for the only calf forward in the Brunt dispersal sale and Gorvin Farming.

A great trade to conclude our Collective Sales for 2024 with buyers from Cornwall to Dorset, Wales, Worcestershire, Shropshire and all counties in between produced the following excellent averages :-
