Wedmore on Farm Dispersal Draws Crowds

Our auctioneers were delighted to be back on Farm at Bow Farm, Wedmore for the Tilbee family when they dispersed their Holstein Friesian and Norwegian Red X Dairy Herd. A great crowd gathered for the sale which started with the dairy equipment which saw the 20:20 Herringbone Parlour selling for £3500, the 1995 6750L Bulk Tank sell for £3400 and the 2011 14T Bin sell for £3000.
Purchasers from Bath and Devon combined with strong local support and online bidding produced a top of 2000gns for the April calved Norwegian Red X 2nd Calver. February calved crossbred heifers and 2nd calvers sold to 1950gns. Holsteins who had calved in May to their third sold to 1900gns. Fresh 5th calvers at 1450gns x 2.
Incalf heifers due July, August and September sold to 1500gns each, with yearlings at 480gns x 3 for daughters of Aardema Moondance ET and ‘A’ lot heifer calves to 420gns for the Norwegian Red X by Onstad.
The following creditable averages were achieved for the grass based Somerset level bred cows:-
