Vintage County Tractors in demand at Exmoor Sale

October 2023

A packed crowd joined auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt on farm at Dulverton, Somerset for the sale of modern and classic tractors, farm machinery and effects for Mr CA Retallack

With bidders from across the UK and Ireland in attendance aswell as a huge number of bidders online on Marteye the sale created a large amount of interest as the kit was well looked after and included some collectible tractors.

Top of the day was the JD 6130R that sold for £66,000 and stayed in the south west, the much admired County 1184 sold for £28,000 to a neighbouring collector. At £27,500 the JCB 526-56 Telehandler travels to Northern Ireland.

Auctioneer Tom Mellor commented ‘plenty of the kit was only a few years old and hadn’t completed huge acreages of work, therefore the demand was fierce to include the John Deere Round Baler that saw spirited bidding and ended up being sold to a Taunton based farm for £23,000’.

Other prices of note: John Deere Gator sold to Ireland for £15,800, Ford 8830 Powershift sold at £15,000, Rolland Rear Discharge Dung Spreader achieved £14,000 and the Kverneland 4F reversible plough realised £12,000.

Tom Mellor continues ‘The best end modern machinery still has great demand and offers buyers good machines with a healthy discount from the heady prices of new equipment’.

Greenslade Taylor Hunt are back on farm in the coming weeks with sales already in the diary at Bridport, Ilminster, Martock and Sedgemoor Auction Centre, with bidding at all sales being live on-site and online on Marteye - catalogues are available now!
