The Brief

Anthony Jeanes, owner of Manor Farm recognised that old, traditional, listed barns were no longer satisfactory for modern day farming. This led him to seek diversification to turn the barn complex into a luxury, contemporary homestay for He turned to GTH to help secure planning and architectural designs for this stunning development.

The Result

Churchill follows an earlier development by Mr Jeanes which was completed in 2017. Following the change of use for the complex of barns from commercial to residential and extensive refurbishment, Beaverbrook emerged, named after Lord Beaverbrook who once owned the land. Following the huge success of Beaverbrook, our Architectural team assisted in the design of Churchill, the second holiday let which sleeps 30 people. GTH has always been Mr Jeanes’ point of contact for both planning and architecture. Our architectural team have extensive experience in conservation having worked on a variety of listed buildings including churches, libraries and modern barn conversion projects such as this. Mr Jeanes noted: 'They are bringing in modern and funky designs whilst at the same time celebrating traditional features”. Projects like these are no stranger to certain challenges however. There were planning issues related to the listed barns, as well as ecological considerations. Having a specialist department on hand to help navigate the challenges smoothed the way. Mr Jeanes said: 'The depth of knowledge of the GTH Development Land and Planning department leads the way. I have great respect for GTH'.
